So, CNN reports that Kevin Smith is going into production on Clerks 2
Love him, hate him. He makes good movies. I admit I have yet to see Chasing Amy or Jersey Girl.
Sayeth CNN:
The sequel picks up 10 years later.
“It’s about what happens when that lazy, 20-something malaise lasts into your 30s. Those dudes are kind of still mired, not in that same exact situation, but in a place where it’s time to actually grow up and do something more than just sit around and dissect pop culture and talk about sex,” Smith said during an interview at his Hollywood office. “It’s: What happened to these dudes?”
Personally, I’m concerned with Jason Mewes. The last I’d heard (I’ll try to find a link) he’s basically needed to utterly eschew Jay to help clean up his life. I need to find reference on that. If anyone has a link, please tell me. But Smith is really positive about the film and comments in the viewaskew forum that this is a Dante and Randall film with a small appearance by Jay & Silent Bob. No cameos, no stars.
So, is it time for a sequel in the Askewniverse? I guess we are left with the phrase, “Trust in Smith” I guess we’ll know within 18 months.
« MEMETIME: MINE! So, you think you’re a googler, huh It’s a filtered post… »

It may put your mind at ease… I have faith… and I will wait and see.
I love KS’s movies. Chasing Amy is great. IMO, Smith is the only director to get a good performance out of Afleck.
We have yet to see Jersey Girl, but I hear it is not as good as his earlier work. Then again, I was not really a big fan of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, as it was a little too heavy on the scat jokes.
Clerks II, sounds awesome!
Heard him on KROQ yesterday morning…
I guess he and Jay are still friends and YES there will be Jay and Silent Bob in this film. It is pulling in the actors that were in the first Clerks. Right now they are jokingly calling it “The Passion of the Clerks.”
It actually sounds like he’s really excited about this movie. It begins filming and production and etc.. in January..
I love Chasing Amy. I liked Clerks. The rest of his movies were a bit “eh” for me. There were amusing bits, but they felt more like their stories were built around the gags rather than gags woven throughout the stories.
I admit I have yet to see Chasing Amy or Jersey Girl.
That’s just not right and really should be remedied.
The last time Kevin did a chat session at the Nuart, Jason Mewes was there. He seemed to be doing much better and Kevin said that he wouldn’t even consider doing another film with Jay and Silent Bob until Jason would be able to handle it. I’m going with the “Trust in Smith” idea on this one. I can’t imagine him doing anything to put Jason in a difficult situation.
Andrei, get thee to the local Blockbuster immediately and get Chasing Amy!!!! I cannot believe you have not seen that!!
Oh say it isn’t so….. You HAVE seen Dogma haven’t you???
