This is what happens when you are trying not to doze off on a bus ride thru the city…. 😉

So…here I am riding the Santa Monica Bus line towards the connecting MTA busline back to the Valley, (Fer sure…) On the bus is the usual mix of bus-like denizens. However, this evening, I note a small contingency of asian women. Roughly college age.

I’m always amused that they seem to travel in packs. Almost like wolves…But without the fear that they are on the hunt. I’m unable to place the nationality of this group. Normally, I can’t. Unless I listen to them speak and can blithely pick out somethi ng that sounds, “Japanese, or chinese, or korean or something.”

I am glad to publically admit that my eye is always drawn to the female Asian face. Perhaps it’s the fact that the eye shape is so noticably and artistically different from my own western eyes. We are always most aware of each other’s differences than similarities.

A commedianne, Margaret Cho, pointed out that she reveled in her Asian decent as it gave her a handy excuse of dealing with people. Being fully American, she has little to no “Asian” accent. However, as demonstrated in her stand up, in times of need she is glad to invoke a deep accent, “I don’t speak English” to avoid having to deal with people.

I think to myself about doing that with an English accent, smile, and am then reminded of the Scottish character in “Chicken Run” that Mel Gibson can not understand.

Time has passed while I’ve been typing..one by one they have gotten off the bus. They didn’t really talk to each other…So I assume that they just sat in a clump. I guess the ‘safety in numbers’ concept. Granted, thru conditioning growing up…I don’t wander too far back in the bus either….

My bus is getting to the transfer point…we’ll finish this on the next bus (assuming it’s not SRO)

A happy memory

CBS tonight ran (for me is running) a Carol Burnette tribute show. Probably one of the best comedy variety shows in the history of Television. The show would shoot a 5pm show by the book. Then they’d do an 8pm show to give the actors a chance to play.

On of the finest moments takes place in the “Mama’s Family” environment as Tim Conway explains the sad story of a pair of Siamese Elephants joined at the trunk. The trainer made them stand up on their rear legs while a little monkey came out and danced a merange (SP?!?) on the trunks. The couldn’t trumpet like the other Elephants (He demonstrates) They could only let out a muffled little “SHU-NORKEY”. Mama looks up and asks if the little Asshole is finished and the scene (which has been falling apart already) goes completely to hell as everyone falls off the sofa laughing.

A piece of TV history.

Personality:

PERFORMER
(DominantExtrovertAbstractFeeler)

Greg A. Tapolow
Like just 6% of the population you are a PERFORMER (DEAF)–personable, self-assured, and excellentunderpressure. You are extroverted and strong-willed, which, in combinationmeans you are good with people and aren’t willing to let opportunity passyou by. Congratulations. I’m sure all the peons you’ve stepped onnever saw it coming and didn’t feel a thing.

You like being naked.

Anyhow, you have formidable creative talents, and you often following whatyour heart tells you instead of your logical mind. Your exuberance canearn you many friends and admirers, despite your ambition, or it canintimidate the less confident into keeping their distance. It’s alsopossible you’re Madonna.

I’ve been watching the Steelers as best I can out here in the City of Angels. When the 4:00 game is a choice between the Steelers and a game involving the Chargers of SD, CALIFORNIA and the Raiders of Oakland CALIFORNIA. You can understand it’s basically “Find a Bar” time.

So last week I watched as the Steelers had their Running game shut down. If the Bus was on the field they were on him like flies on discarded sugar. But something strange happened. It was a passing game. See, this new guy they got called Kordell had this awesome passing game. I refer to this new guy…because the Steelers used to have a guy named Kordell. This guy couldn’t really throw the ball very dependably. I guess the old Kordell trained under Neil O’Donnel because he loved throwing the ball to the other team.

But this guy…this new guy was totally different. This week and last week. We had a passing game and we were strong with it. Between Hines Ward and neo-non-rookie Plaxico Burress; we’ve established a passing game. the fact that byt the third and fourth quarter we can rock between that and the slow damage that the Bus does has given me faith that the Steelers are definitely going to make a showing in the Playoffs. The Bowl would be nice…But let’s see how things play out for now.

And on the 456th day

God looked down upon Cain and Abel and said, “What’s with this shit?” He then went on to quote Cher in Mermaids and said, “Snap out of it.”

I have a brother….his name is Shawn. We piss each other off….alot. But he’s my brother. And I have missed him.
