Well, I’ve found motivation to get back into a diet again. I don’t believe that I’m as strong physically as I should be. I’m also worried about some of the health risks of my family line.
So, I’ve decided the best way to commence this is through ritual.
First, I’ve examined my status.
The good news is, that I’m not as heavy as I thought that I was. At my worst, I measured 202#. That was the first motivation to start. I managed through some diet regulation and changes to push down to 195#. That was a few months ago. I’ve tried to maintain that regulation…but have faltered. I could see it in my face. So… I decided to start again today… I started by (gulp) weighing in.
When I weighed in during the last time, I usually did it after a shower. Today I did it fully clothed. Imagine my surprise when the same scale I’d been using said *195*
This is encouraging because it means that at least I’m maintaining. Now to really actually make it work for me.
So… what is healthy. Well, going by a chart at weightchart.org it looks like about 146 to 160 is good for me. That’s not a lot. Well, 35-50#; For me the importance is also to transform my gut into muscle mass.
So, what’s all this ritual stuff? After Magick 101; I was given the ‘blueprints’ to ceremonial ritual
- Banish
- Purification
- Consecration
- General Invocation / Evocation
- The Oath
- Charge to the Spirit
- License to Depart
- Banishing
- Writing of the record.
So, I’ve started the process. I’ve banished and begun purification of self.
Okay, so maybe some of this sounds a bit strange. But I figure if I can formally dedicate myself to a purpose; truly identifying my goals and finding that which may cause me to stumble; mitered of course with an actual diet plan. I think this will be a good thing.
Thus: Goals. Written down for me and the world to see.
- Wed Feb 26: 5#: Goal 190
- Never leave the house unshaven again
- Mar 8: Rite of Saturn: 188 maybe 185#
- Seriously begin exercising. Stick with it.
- Mar 31: Replace wardrobe.
Well, it’s just a start….

Well, it’s just a start….
Starting is good =)
Seriously begin exercising. Stick with it.
The other side of being healthy is watching your food intake. =)
Wow!
You know, i have never combined ritual with dieting, and now I’m sitting here dumbfounded wondering why it had never occured to me to do it before.
I constantly struggle with my weight and have never thought to find strength in the Goddess.
Best of luck to you in your endeavor.
And thanks for the tip…
Starting is important, and it sounds like your goals aren’t unrealistic. How do you plan to achieve the weight loss? I mean, what combination of exercise and changes in intake? You mention exercise later in the list, so I assume you’re going to start by trimming the junk food or whatever?
The best secret I can think of for proper exercising is to find something you enjoy. If you can make yourself honestly enjoy going to the gym regularly and doing weights, good for you, but that’s really hard if you’re not an exercise junkie. Find activities — walking, cycling, rock climbing, swimming, skating, etc — that you can do and learn at your own pace, and then push a little bit every time and watch yourself get better. Alternately, if you can find a partner to go with you regularly, it helps a lot with incentive.
