TYPICALLY: it takes me 40 minutes to drive from our camp of the Golden Lotus to my home after midnight. Even with a stop off and drop off in Fullerton, it shouldn’t have been more than an hour. I left Fullerton at 1:15 am. Tonight I learned the true horrors that can occur on an L.A. freeway… and this wasn’t even L.A.

A tractor trailer overturned at Carmenita Dr in Norwalk. The truck dumped several gallons of toxic and dangerous goo all over the north-bound highway. It took me three hours to drive 1.5 miles. Once I finally got to the Carmenita exit 4 lanes of traffic were being merged off the freeway to discover the twilight joys of Norwalk, California.

The horror of this was the amount of drink I’d bought in Fullerton to keep myself awake and the 2 hours of teeth-clenching traffic jam I sat thru, praying that there was a rest room at the first exit after the traffic. Actually once dumped onto the detour of streets I discovered that there was in fact no rest room at the first gas station. More properly, “I don’ have that key to give out.”

I’d like to add to my personal 8th circle of hell (the one where the damned is immersed in excrement) People who lie about restroom availability to those obviously in need of one.

Well, the time is now 5am. I need to be awake in 4 hrs to prep for todays ritual work. At least it’s not like anyone important might be there… oh yeah…. right.. I forgot…

Grymble,, zzznzz… mrowr

I took a day off to let it all sink in…
    It hasn’t.. it probably won’t.

10 weeks and 2 days ago, I was given the interesting surprise that the company had decided a major portion of my team was no longer necessary. For the second time since moving to California, I was suddenly jobless.

2 days ago I got a verbal offer. Yesterday I sent in the forms that let them do a background check on me. (I hate that part) So, currently I am waiting for a contract to be issued. This is a very scary time between thinking you have a job and knowing you have one. So at this point I’d say I am about 95% re-employed.

But, that is not all. A local friend in a coven that we tend to visit a lot also had a house for rent. I say had because it is absolutely perfect. The house is roughly a 15 minute commute to the new office. It is also 15 minutes to the OTO body I mentioned earlier this week. But that is not even the start of it. First off, it has the most incredible view through nature to L.A. in the distance. It is halfway between downtown Pasadena and China Town. Which means it’s also close to Little Tokyo, the Garment District, Glendale, and lots of other cool places. It’s about 180% the size of the place we are currently living in. And above all, the rent is roughly the same but this time utilities are included.

We hope to have the place with DSL before we move in, the place has a dish which means I can watch my Steelers games!!!! We will probably be getting a cat. (I haven’t had a cat in a while) The place has ample space for Heather’s art, my computer, and books. Lots of books. Also, it has room to entertain people. So gatherings are possible.

So, I’ve begun to make some changes. I am officially announcing version 2.0 of my LJ site. I’ve done an overhaul to the look and feel. (I too have jumped on the component bandwagon and must humourously and ironically admit that I did not know about chite‘s new design until mine was almost finished. My new design is open for comment and bug reports.

So more stuff coming…. really. Life has been … good 🙂

mysterious
You have a mysterious kiss. Your partner never
knows what you’re going to come up with next;
this creates great excitement and arousal never
knowing what to expect. And it’s sure to end
in a kiss as great as your mystery.

What kind of kiss are you?

More on the job

I’m going to be sending thank-yous to everyone who posted… and as per request, please levy all remaining and future job acquisition energy at lrstrobel

I am not going to go into specific details about the job at this time as I am currently waiting on paperwork from the company (so, while close to the end of my journey, there’s still one or two more steps.)

The job is in Pasedena (Yes home of the Rose Bowl and similarly named Parade). This is approximately 25 minutes west of where I live. I also would be traveling opposite from rush hour so, the commute will pretty much go down by about 70%

This will also put me about 1/4 the distance from the OTO body that I currently serve as an officer.

I will be doing Mac Software Engineering. So, I’m still in the same trade. I have had to take a pay-cut of about 6.5%

(Yes, we love this economy 😛 )

And there may be more details later 🙂

thanks again….

Edit:Corrected some terminology to aleviate confusion

Life changes…

As of September 8th I will be employed again full time. I received an official offer as of 4pm today. Pending paperwork but all looks better.

Thanks to all who sent positive energy and well wishes.
