They have said no food or even water before surgery.
I thought I’d write this little poem.
Twas an hour before surgery and all through the
HUNGRY!
I am really bad at fasting.
Since they are putting me under for oral surgery

They have you fast because it is a royal pain to do surgery through “urp” 🙂
Weeell, and they don’t want to risk anything coming back up (like from a bad reaction to the anesthesia) when the patient is “under”.
I’m sorry, I don’t mean to reap enjoyment from your pain… but… that was funny. ::giggle::
That sucks! When had my wisdom teeth extracted they told me to eat a big breakfast, because I wouldn’t eat for the rest of the day. Of course I did it awake with local. I must be a glutton for punishment I suppose.
Oh yeah, doing it awake you are treated to the scrunchy noises of bone pulling from bone! I did that too — in Tijuana due to no insurance and a lack of funds.
Fortunately the nitrous was turned way up (my dentist uncle performed the procedure), and I had my discman playing an infinite loop of Pink Floyd.
*grin!*
Hope the surgery goes/went well and that all bits are accounted for. 🙂
I just went through it – all I could eat for the next two days was Boost shakes. Good luck and godspeed, my friend! The drugs are great, though.
First of all…..all my love and sympathy to you for the surgery. I have had it and it both sucks and isn’t that bad.
Secondly, I was on my porch today and saw this little box that looked like it had been there a day or two….it turned out to be presents from you!!!! Thank you, Thank you. We loves them we do. I have also sitting on my bookshelf for over a month now a present for you and Heather. Maybe we can arrange a delivery of it when you are feeling better
I feel your pain. I’ve had lots of oral surgery. Thank goodness there’s lots of good drugs out there. I also hate fasting. Ack.
I get really creative when I can’t eat well when recovering from oral surgery – I’m not a big liquid food fan either.
