It’s 12:55 am and I’m writing a post…

I just got out of seeing Finding Nemo. I’m at an Apple dev thing, so I might as well go see Steve’s new movie. In truth, I was planning on seeing Hulk but got to the theatre at 9:50 and Hulk started at 10… So I opted for something else. But let me back up a bit…

Today was the first day of heavy code. I finished loading Panther (10.3) on my laptop. Then the CD Rom drive died. 🙁 Fortunately, I wasn’t the only person with this problem. So… The other person had transfered the dev tools to a disc image, and now I have those too. Seminars today included Unix tools on the Mac and Open GL. My brain got kinda full.

Dinner was spent with the old team again. I met a slew of other people who used to work for the black & gold yin-yang and had a fun evening at the Metreon. They have a killer arcade and it turns out Tuesday is “All you can play for $10” In the back they had a ‘vintage’ room. I played “Donkey Kong, Frogger, and Altered Beast” (I got absolutely slaughtered on A.B., but it was a killer to hear, POWER UP. MAME is fun, but still not like the real thing. Sadly the original Space Invaders and Tron machines were dead.

Some co-workers played “Dance Dance Revolution” which I have only tried once and swore never to do again. I tried it the last time I was in S.F. at the Metreon. I couldn’t keep up. I found a game called HyperBowl and bowled a pretty good game in the streets of San Francisco, but I sucked in Tokyo. I played Capcom vs. Marvel and clobbered the LiveUpdate guy from my old team.

After dinner, I headed up to the aforementioned theatre. I figured my choices were Nemo and Bruce Almighty. The rather perky guy behind the counter who said, “Welcome to the theatre and Happy Tuesday!” I asked him which film of the two he recommended. He told me that he wasn’t allowed to make recommendations or comments. He then went on to tell me however if he could make recommendations then they’d probably lean toward Nemo.

Good call. Nemo was excellent. I’d put it above Monster’s, Inc. Probably in a close heat with TS2. Somehow I’m going to see if I can drag Heather to it. We’ll see 😉

Right now it is 1:18. I’ve just spoken with Fraser of and we’re going to see if we can figure out the compilation problems with WebKit and the runtime problems under Panther. I’ll be talking to Apple Dev Relations tomorrow for some hints.

Mean time… I’m not exactly tired, so I’m going to pull out my old CP application and see what I can figure out under the new IDE.

Night all…
Tomorrow is another day…

I didn’t post yesterday because I went through a bit of an emotional roller-coaster.

The keynote for WWDC was extraordinary! Those who are mac fans have already gone out of their way to download the new ichat and safari. Those of us here are already playing in Panther (I am in there now) and using our nifty neato new firewire web cams. 🙂

In Rendezvous and OSX you can make your own wireless network. I made one during the keynote called, “You really want to hire Andrei”

I made several contacts and went thru the vendor fair. This was not quite as enjoyable. The mixed economy and the proliferation of marketing people made me feel like things look bleak.

Also, with Heather in L.A. and me here, I had an attack of lonely.

I talked with Heather a little last night. This cheered me up alot. I made a few extra contacts. I had dinner with the ‘old team’ and led a toast to the 03 products that we really worked our asses off on and I for one am proud of. Finally, I got to see pixel12 who is on a drive thru the country from Canada.

Last night I installed the new dev tools. Today I am installing the new dev tools and Panther. It is very, very sweet. This coupled with the fact that I’m a .mac user made the sudden realization that I could download all my working data…well, really quite unbelievable.

Well, time for lunch… More soon

j-40, a little annoyed

Firstoff, I had this really cool post I wrote in the baggage claim, but the sidekick flakes on ocassion so I lost it.

I am reminded of the song 25 or 6 to 4. But this isn’t insomnia. In 2.5 hrs I need to be out the door to head for registration.

It’s been a long day…

I performed an EGC mass today at the camp of the Golden Lotus. It went fairly well with a small number of attendees. At least I got to do the mass in front of the Bishop that I am training under.

I know 2 distinct mistakes that I made. But I covered quickly enough. Thus my state as a novitiate. Ordination is still a ways off and requires me to accomplish some other requirements first.

We had a great time at the church after mass. Heather took me to the airport and stayed with me for about half an hour. For the record, I really love her, very much. And she, I. She went back to the church after leaving me at the airport. I must admit I am holding a very small smidge of jealousy at bay. 🙂

The flights were flights. I had a 2 hr layover in vegas. I won $54 off a video slot after two spins. So money is coming in…

Now, here I am. 2:37am… WWDC kicks off at 10am (registration at 7am) and this is my big chance. Now is when I have to make it count.

And I am nervous. I have resumes (of which I found a spelling error in the next to the last line in the activities area). I am worried that it was unwise to mention that I am an ordained deacon and novitiate priest in my activities area.

I am hoping for the big prize. Mac dev in L.A. For a little more than I made at my last job. I’d be willing to manage…i’d be willing to do java… Sadly, I’m even willing to consider the north. But I wouldn’t be thrilled.

I do (for the 5th time, albeit 3rd serious time) have a resume in at Apple.

Life is weird and scary right now. Being up for nearly 22 hrs straight does that to you. As always… My spirits are what keeps me going. I just need to keep them up and stay positive.

Everyone who’s been dropping notes and comments… Everyone who’s been asking how it’s going…. This has done more for me than you can imagine. As long as I can stay focussed I know I can land another job within 40 days.

Above all has been Heather. She has been my light and strength and joy and happiness thru this. I love her and treasure her.

Love to all who have been supportive.

Wish me luck. This is the big one today!

Resume posted

I have now opened http://www.apolo.cc

On there the current view of my resume.

Read it, love it, pass the link onto people with jobs 😀

Saturday was 42…

Worked on the web pages for my site a little. Rehearsed mass for Sunday a few times. Then it was off the the quarterly church meeting. New officer installations were included.

Back home, watched Buffy with Heather. Then we did some laundry… I worked on the web page and finally crashed
