So, I received an email from Ultimate Bet. Phil Hellmuth is acting as sponsor for a Hurricane Katrina Relief Tournament.
Now while this is a serious event and really a good cause… I have to take a moment here.
Phil Hellmuth is known as the Bad Boy of Poker. Last year (2004) in the World Series of Poker he was quoted as saying, “Well, I guess if luck wasn’t involved, I’d win every one.”
So… while I salute Ultimate Bet’s desire to raise money for the relief efforts… You have to understand there is something fundamentally wrong with the phrase:
“From the goodness of the heart of Phil Hellmuth…”
« Memetime… One man’s kink is not another man’s IM request. »
well…
It’s maybe a bit more “believable” then say, Phil Lak spondering the relief fund … 😉
Ah yes, but did you hear about Las Vegas Advisor/Huntington Press’ success at the expo at the WSOP this year with their ‘Kill Phil’ books and hats? EVERYONE wanted one.
So, one can assume, if the goal of the tourney is the chance to, well, kill Phil…it’s probably a smart plan. (He’s apparently a good sport about being such a monumental dickhead, he asked to write the foreword to the Kill Phil book, and did.)
