Hey Washington-

Having thoroughly researched the two candidates for Governor of the State of Washington. I’ve come to the conclusion that I can NOT in good faith cast a vote for either of them.

I feel this so strongly, knowing that it’s a close race, that I don’t want to find myself the deciding vote approving either of these candidates.

So… Since I can’t go with either candidate it’d be completely irresponsible not to at least offer some solution to the issue. I’m going to offer myself as a write in candidate.

My legal qualifications? Quite honestly… I have exactly the same legal qualifications as the current Governor of California had when he ran. This equates out to… not a whole lot.

But… I’m willing to fulfil the position if elected. I just don’t really have much of a chance.

But if you’re stymied and don’t really want to vote for Gregoire or Rossi, then write in “Andrei A. Freeman” (I’d just love to get more than one vote 😉

I suppose you need a campaign promise. Um… I’ll work to return the penalty for online gambling from a class C Felony back to a misdemeanour.

Please note: This is not just for Seattle-ans. We’re giving advance notice to convince long-distance friends to travel! (Jenn, you can start driving now 😉

I wanted to put the “save the date” out right here and now…

Barring unheard of or unexpected trauma, the FreePeople shall once again open the castle to ring in 2009.

This will be Freeple NewYears #5 (Yes, there is a history)

Let us celebrate not merely the fact that 2008 is fired, but so much so as to have it roughed up by security on the way out of the building.

Details at this point are sketchy, but we’re pretty sure of the date. Wednesday, December 31st and crash space available by request, distance travelled and preference. (We’re poly, there are SOs to count 😉 Breakfast and potentially the usual crazies heading off to go plunge like polar bears.

More details forthcoming.

Looking forward to seeing people again as we come out of our hibernation.

shimmeringjemmy got some good, bad, and hopeful news concerning the medical specialists we’re hoping to speak with. She titled a filtered post, “The Good, bad, and hopeful”

I of course immediately responded to her:

Heather stars in, “The Good, The Bad, and the Hopefull” :
“OohWeeOohWeeOohWeeOooh…. womp womp waaaaah;
OohWeeOohWeeOohWeeOooh…. womp OWWW!”

Which I thought was funny right up until I found out she’s never actually seen the film.

The theme means nothing to her.

I tried to explain that the theme to “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” is the Spaghetti Western direct equivalent to the theme to Doctor Who.

Unfortunately, the youtube quality is epic fail.

ZOMG: Without my pop culture analogies… I’m NOTHING !!!!!!

😉

But before I go… while I’m on the topic for you WHO fans out there. Came across this amazing pair of comparison videos. See all the Doctor Who intros synched together over the years. One for the pre star field intros and one for the post. It’s quite amazing to watch.

Pre Star Field
Hartnell-Tom Baker
Star Field To Present
Tom Baker to present
(including the movie)

This doesn’t actually fit on icanhaztardis or lolcats or pretty much any of my boards.

But the second I saw this image from the assoicated press, the caption was unbelievably obvious to me.

Granted, you have to know my fandom and opinions to get the most out of it.
Image behind the cut to soften the blow

Believe it or not, I’m really not for a bipartisan system. Everytime I hear the phrase, “I reach across the aisle” it really makes me sick. The truth is, the reasons behind saying the system is broken aren’t the real reasons.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was someone who put the legislation in an easy to find place with translations out of the arcane language of ‘legal’ into hard facts of what the implications were?

Wouldn’t you love to see who specifically tacked on the amendment to the bailout bill that said, “And by the way; all the taxes we used to collect from Puerto Rico for importing rum; lets give it back to their government for the next 2 years.”

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the only topic the two parties agreed on wasn’t “How can we make more laws to prevent a tertiary party from gaining a foothold to keep us in check?”

Will Barack Obama help fix these things? Probably not.

Does the party have a plan that might at least start reversing some of the problems that we’ve fallen into in the past 8 years? Oh yes.

I often hear that a president can’t claim the economic rise and success that occurs during their term. That Clinton didn’t help the economy; he inherited the work of Regan and Bush the first. Well, we see what the next president is about to inherit. And let me tell you. I don’t see the budget snapping back in the next 4 years. I see it beginning to turn.

I don’t like the idea of privatising Social Security and Health after what privatising and deregulation has done to the banking system. I don’t like the idea of health being reduced to ‘which state can offer the least for the least?’

I’m raising money in the hopes that my small contribution will join other’s small contributions to help put into the White House the first candidate in pretty much my entire life that I can believe in.

I’ve set a goal for $1000 that I’ve helped raise. And truthfully, I’m really only hoping to get $750. Because if I can raise that much for Obama, I’ll happily put in the other quarter.

I’m doing okay so far. But I am going to be on this for the next month. Because frankly… I don’t like the outlook of a McCain administration.

Please consider supporting Obama’s campaign with funds as well as your philosophical support. And most assuredly above all else. Vote. Even if your state seems like a done deal… Vote.

Thank you.
