shimmeringjemmy and I (and aiden_freeman will be headed east in early October.

We will be speakers at Crucible: A Gathering of Mages, Pagans, Mystics, and Occultists

The conference is celebrating it’s 5th year. The organizers are some old Nutmeggers for remember that conference with fond memories.

The conference will be held over the weekend of Saturday October 4th with minor social gatherings Friday evening and Sunday morning. The seminars are all day Saturday. The conference takes place in New Jersey. So we are putting the invite out to everyone we know and others that we don’t in the Philly, NY, Boston, and DC areas.

The conference rate and hotel rate are both stunningly low. The staff are a good bunch of folk too.

So, mark your calendars. Check out the site. Come to Crucible.

We will be posting again at later dates.

I’ve been listening to a wonderful Podcast called deos-shadow. One could call it a non-denominational pagan show. I owe my discovery of the show to fiannaharpar.

The host has interviewed several good occult authors on the series and that’s just the side features. Deo and his wife Mandy present a realistic, level-headed view of paganism and what it’s like to practice.

The show is temporarily on hiatus because Deo’s older Mac laptop has fallen prey to the curse of the motherboard. For those curious this is a wonderful time to catch up. I strongly recommend you start with the episode #28 called, “When to Call bulls&#t”

Like most podcasts Deos-shadow has a forum site. I’m not typically active on forums anywhere because I just don’t have the time allotment to try to follow and catch up on an unending supply of threads. (Someday someone will make treaded conversations far easier to interact with)

For some reason this morning while sitting in bed (next to the most wonderful image of sleeping shimmeringjemmy, aiden_freeman, and, cute_evil) I decided to look thru the forum.

A young poster was in a class when a bomb threat went off. She decided to use a magic 8-ball for divination. Below the cut is her recollections of the rather doom-suggestive divination and my comments back to her on the nature of divination.

The short form is that I agree with her that tarot is much better and then explain why magic 8-balls and especially ouija are bad.

Oh, Auntie Andrei… why shouldn’t I use a magic 8-ball for divination?

Why yes, it is 2:30 in the morning.

Laugh while you can monkey-people.

So, most of my Aiden posting will be ghost writing for the boy until he tells me it’s really dumb and takes over the journal himself.

But I have to point out the post I just made. I know fully that 105% of his motions at this point are utterly random… He’s playing with synapses and muscles to sort of take the new body out for a joy ride and see what it can do. Or in his case what it can do do.

(Wait for audience groan)

Now, he’s got about 2 gestures he does randomly from time to time. shimmeringjemmy and I found them amusing but were willing to admit they were just random coincidences. Well he picked up a third gesture this evening. It is the one most likely to be done by a baby. But when taken in consideration with his birthday and his other two favourite gestures… it get’s realllllly spooky.

Here’s his post with picture.
