It was bound to happen

shimmeringjemmy was changing aiden_freeman this morning.

Aiden has decided that this is no longer an activity he wants to help with and would rather use it as an opportunity to be elsewhere.

As a result, we have taken to trying to engage him to distract him from changing time.

Sometimes it is games and sounds, sometimes it is just pinning his shoulders down (in a gentle, parental manner), usually it is talking.

Today’s morning talk from shimmeringjemmy didn’t quite go as planned.

“Free the crotch. Free the crotch.

It’s sort of like ‘Free Willy’, but not really.”

(pause)…

I start to laugh like a puerile teen-ager.

“Okay… maybe it’s exactly like ‘Free Willy’

I am down for the count.

I’ve never been one for the Commercialization of holidays.

“Hallmark Holidays” kinda twig me. The concept that President’s Day is specifically a day to get great deals on used cars, kinda makes me sick….

That being said… I suppose I should acknowledge that this day becomes different for me. My father having passed a few years back now, the family responsibility to become mildly curmudgeonly today becomes mine.

So, I should continue the tradition by sharing a moment from one of my father’s favourite films.

Below the cut is a piece of footage that made him very happy. I’d make a comment that it is Not safe for work… But it is… It’s just not really safe for anything else. It’s just disturbing. 🙂

So to all the other dads out there (shudder in self realization), and the ones that are soon to be (waves to H.S.) This one’s for all of you. But specifically it’s for my dad. It made him happy. He was a strange man.

It's father's day

Firstoff…

Maybe it’s not time yet to celebrate.. But I am sleeping. Both of us are. It’s not the 6-9 hrs that we’re used to. But there are sleeps and naps.

I feel rested. I could use more.. who couldn’t.

I’m taking lots of pictures of the boy. I finally got one I’m really happy with on his journal. I made his journal paid so I could add pictures.

Personally, I could really use a shave and a shower.

And lunch.

But it’s fun. I like it. I have a baby.

shimmeringjemmy gets this blissed look on her face once they get over the latch of nursing. It’s wonderful to watch.

At some point I may go back to other kinds of posting.
