Perhaps I should clarify 😉

… to come across the site: sourceryforge.org

To those who don’t get the humour, there is a DIY source code site for developers called sourceforge.

I was driven there by a term: hypersigil

So I meandered the site and of course had to look up the O.T.O.

There was an amusingly well written, albeit biting comment.

The Book of the Law was written by Aleister Crowley in 1904. Crowley described the book as “received”. This, in Occultism, is supposed to mean that it was transmitted to him by some spiritual entity via occult means. (the reader may be interested to check Skepticism).

Amusing…

I’m sitting in a lovely little garden behind a school of oriental medicine.

ariche is taking a final exam. She and royalbananafish and andropostroymet me at the airport. Which was really wonderful as the flight out from LA was an experience.

Well, not the flight itself. The flight got to the gate about 5 minutes after the time it was supposed to board. From there was the 20 minutes while they unloaded it and didn’t exactly clean it. (You can tell, just look in the seat pocket in front of you when you board)

We boarded and after an acceptable wait taxied to the runway. Then we revved up and then revved down. Somewhat normal. Then we waited a bit. The captain got on and said we were taxiing back to the gate. The tower noticed smoke coming out of one of our engines. If we noticed fire trucks as we returned to gate we were supposed to assume that this was normal and not worry. We got to the gate and were asked to deplane.

Then the chaos ensued. One gate with a flight to Portland in 90 minutes started making a list of waiting list passengers (first come first serve). Meanwhile our gate started another list of rebooking. To first come-first serve lists can make a bunch of irate passengers… well even more irate.

The flight was to leave at 5:50 and we deplaned at 6:30. They told us that they would have ‘more information’ for us at 7PM. Typically more information is when the next update will be. At 7pm a suited person emerged and said we’d depart at 7:30. I asked if they’d determined the problem. He said inconclusive. I said, “That’s not exactly comforting.” He then quickly back pedaled and said, “I’m not a technical person, I haven’t been told what the situation is.” No one in a suit (self included) bought that. at 7:30 they let us back on. This was the same plane.

Turns out that the plane’s starter engine got some gas into it so it smoked a bit. The starter engine has two purposes, to blow air into the engine to get it spinning and to run the AC in the cabin before take off. They apologized for the stuffiness in the cabin and explained that the engine would be started with a blower from the airport and we were on route.

Dinner consisted of a chicken breast sandwich with mozzarella. I performed the magickal act and told myself that I would be able to withstand it as there was no alternative. Magickal act was successful.

Got to ariche‘s and gleibinger‘s place. Lots of people were there. It was nice to have such a welcome reception. And port 😉 Also saw: maxomai, yogsothoth (might be yogsothoth93), juliakstone and even rikokujin who I finally got to meet. Oh, wait,… how can I forget.. miss_pig who promptly used me as a pillow.

Long weekend ahead. Will post more later.

I am fairly easily distracted. Such is ADD that many adults in my age group now seem to suffer from as easily as clogged sinuses.

I sit here at 12:15 am waiting for my pain killers to kick in… 3 root canals in one day. Even my dentist thought I was mad. And that was trying to find his way through what apparently was complex nerves.

So, one of my duties this week has been to repair an iBook that I personally managed to munge. In a stellar act of bravado, I clobbered the iBook by installing the new version of Mac OS, Tiger.

I tried a few repair methods in Seattle and now have the sick ‘pooter here at my home office. My next planned attempt was to install a bare-bones OS onto one of my firewire drives to have a running scratch space from which to run some disk utils. So I found my old 10 Gig FW drive. I got this drive while I was in San Diego.

Opening the drive to peruse it, I found an encrypted 500 MB partition. Amazingly, I not only had the software to open it, but remembered the password. Oh, the treasures I found there. Not the least of which was a journal that dated to BEFORE my live journal days… BEFORE my California days. Matter of fact, one of my favourite entries right at the beginning reads:

5/9/98 9:21 AM (Pacific)

Okay…more reasons for the Journal. I’m taking this OTO thing that I’ve done fairly seriously. I’m not sure if this is good or bad. So hopefully, I’ll now be able to analyze that through punching it out in written (typed) form.

To put this in perspective, this entry occurred 20 days after my 1° which was also 55 days after my Minerval. That’s right, less that 60 days in from joining the order and I’m talking about, “… this OTO thing…” and whether or not taking it fairly seriously, “…is good or bad.” heh.

Later in the post I go on to say:
Do what thou wilt, shall be the whole of the Law. Eleven simple words that I’d already made a part of my life before I even met ΘΗΛΕΜΑ,

I marvel at my ignorance at noticing the phrase had eleven words and how little the number eleven meant to me then.

But I look at the journal then as I look at the one I have now.

Large canyons of space between entries. References to things I need to go back and fill in. Formulations of big ideas that trail off quickly. *sigh* Times that I think it’d be nice to start typing and not stop until I was done. Wishings that I could go back and find every, “I’ll get back to this” and make a list so I could get back to them.

And most importantly, the discipline to keep up the progress. Not merely to post publicly, but to post my feelings without prodding the audience for a response. To post my private thoughts to me more often and consistently. And to finish what I start.

I view myself as a work in progress. Some things I have improved noticeably on in short amounts of time. Some things have changed in a more subtle way over much longer period of time. Some things haven’t progressed anywhere nearly as much as I’ve wanted to. Some things have barely moved at all.

I am in a transition into a new phase of my life. Maybe this will be another thing that really begins to improve.

As the famous, “They” often say… today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Beltane/Horned God

Last night Blue Horizon Oasis hosted a Horned God ritual. I am not really going to go into what Beltane is. There is more than enough information online 🙂

A wonderfully joyous ritual was celebrated to invoke the spring and Pan, and all things fertile. Incredible kudos to the work of Soror S. for all the work she did to pull the chaotic event together. Of course elqahar did an absolutely stunning job of bringing in the Pan-aic energies. Even if we invoked more than we bargained for.

The highlight of the evening for me was an authentic maypole. We bound two of the brethren to the maypole and entiwined them within it in the hopes that they would be blessed with fertility.

Picture behind the cut 🙂

The happy couple bound….
