Listening to a new 80’s compilation last night. Really good one.
Was listening to “Jeopardy” by The Greg Kihn Band.
During the bridge I instinctually recited from memory the Don Pardo monologue from Yankovic’s “I Lost on Jeopardy” Sadly, I even timed it out in the original.
Hi, Happy! (We should coordinate some weekend for dinner or something)
That’s right Al–you lost!
And let me tell what you didn’t win: a twenty- volume set of the Encyclopedia International,
a case of Turtle Wax, and a year’s supply of Rice-a-Roni, the San Francisco treat. But that’s not all!
You also made yourself look like a jerk in front of millions of people!
And you brought shame and disgrace on your family name for generations to come!
You don’t get to come back tomorrow! You don’t even get a lousy copy of your
home game! You’re a complete loser!!
There was a version that wasn’t weird al’s?
That got an honest OL, L.
And a chuckle… and another laugh.
I can’t begin to list the number of songs I learned about after Weird Al. But between that, KGB, and the people we hung out with…
It’s not surprising our tastes run this way š
Re: That got an honest OL, L.
A long long time ago
In a galaxy far away
Naboo was under an attack
And I thought me and Qui-Gon Jin
Could talk the Federation in—to
Maybe cutting them a little slack
But their response it didn’t thrill us
They locked the doors and tried to kill us
We escaped from that gas
Then met Jar Jar and Boss Nass
We took a bongo from the scene
And went to Theed to see the queen
We all wound up on Tatooine
That’s where we found this boy….
….
I have issues with the “original” of “Vanna, pick me a letter”… or however that one goes. š

KGB?! Gasp! You mean you didn’t use 91X or 92.5?
