RIP Michael Chrichton

Science Fiction Author Michael Chrichton died unexpectedly Tuesday.

Chrichton was the author of a few of my favourite stories including “The Andromeda Strain.”

His eulogy will none the less involve far too much scientific detail and not get around to the actual cause of death until about 2 hours in. Regardless of not comprehending any of this, his Eulogy will be fascinating.

Yesterday, I mentioned news that a gentleman I respected had passed. The full details have now been posted.

Thank you for several years of fun geekdom.

Madeleine L’Engle is dead at 88

People who know me well, know that I do not read a lot of fiction. It’s not that I don’t enjoy the genre… or even that I don’t enjoy reading. I just don’t find a lot of books that either captivate me or keep me in a manner that affords me the time to break away to read.

“A Wrinkle in Time” is not only one of the few pieces of literature I treasure… it’s one that I make a point to re-read every few years.

It was a stunning book that has allowed me to identify with not one.. but all of the characters everytime I’ve read it.

Ms. L’Engle will be sorely missed.

Caveat: This is a rant. It is mean spirited and lashes out against someone. Please do not take it as a defining point of who I am. It’s just something I want to get out of my system. Thank you.

BUT…
