I’m listening to an 80’s feed. It’s called club 977 on iTunes (and the rest of you non-mac folk can get to it at their site.

So, I find myself slamming my head against a wall.. (Well as much as one can wall slam to Toto’s Africa.) See, they just played, “Silent Running (On dangerous Ground) by Mike and the Mechanics. The video and lyrics suggest that the song is off the soundtrack to a sci-fi movie. And a really good looking one from the appearance/sound.

So.. my quandry… I can’t find ANY information if said movie ever existed. It’s like finding DVD’s of “WOSAT” or Sountracks to “The Coca Cola Kid.”

I put it to my journal. Does ANYONE know anything about this famed theoretical movie?!?!?!?

We return you to your previously scheduled LJ

Silent Running (Rutherford/Robertson)
Take the children and yourself
And hide out in the cellar
By now the fighting will be close at hand
Don’t believe the church and state
And everything they tell you
Believe in me, I’m with the high command

Chorus:
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

There’s a gun and ammunition
Just inside the doorway
Use it only in emergency
Better you should pray to God
The Father and the Spirit
Will guide you and protect from up here

(Chorus)

Swear allegiance to the flag
Whatever flag they offer
Never hint at what you really feel
Teach the children quietly
For some day sons and daughters
Will rise up and fight while we stood still

(Chorus x 2)
