Well, it’s come around again…
1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.”
2. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
So regulus666 asked…
1. What are some of your favorite types of tea?
I love herbal teas. I like using blends of medicinal herbs and then using a combination of simple teas to make a taste bouquet. Originally, I thought that it just wound up with one mash of taste, but I discovered that you can actually find the different tastes in tea similarly to the way you can taste different liqueurs in a good mixed drink.
Specific favourites are Assam Blacks, Pai Mu Tam whites, and the occassional Dragonwell Green. Whites in general have a very subtle taste by themselves, but when added to a Black based blend has the ability to “Turn up the saturation” on the other flavours.
2. How did you get into Mac programming?
I got my first computer when I was 11 years old. It was an Apple ][. Not a plus or an ‘e’. The first of the Apple ][s. The first thing I did after going thru the manual was taking a screwdriver to it. (Much to the horror of my mom). I put it back together with no difficulty (save about 3 pieces) but decided that the exercise bored me. So I learned to program.
Humourously when I went to college I wanted to be a theatre major so I wouldn’t have to sit at an office staring at a screen all day. After college I discovered knowing how to code paid more than waiting tables between shows. I went to Mac programming because it grew out of Apple programming. I actually got hired by my second college while I was finishing my degree.
3. What is your favorite liqueur?
Absolute favourite is called Pisang Ambon. It’s a banana liquor from Holland. I’m pretty sure it’s not exported. It tastes amazing with Sprite. Very easy to get wasted on as well. Interestingly I think they consider it a wivendrijnk. Meaning a woman’s drink. Now this was also about 20 years ago. So it may not exist anymore.
4. If I were to go to Boston, what should I see or do?
Well, for starters. Salem. The shops there are a cool blend of occulty, white lighty, and gothy. Of course while there… KTO. Their venue is incredible and the folk are just damned cool. The rail system there doesn’t suck, so it’s easy to get around. Other than that… I haven’t done a lot in Boston. I’m more of a New Yorker at heart.
5. What is your favorite play that you have seen or acted in?
Ask me an or… you get an and.
The best show I’ve seen would have to be the Pittsburgh opera production of “Once on this Island“. Best described as “The Little Mermaid without the saccharinely sweet censoring that Disney imposed” it is a fantastic retelling of the story with a Caribbean feel. As for “Rent” I love the show dearly and seeing it was fantastic… but the calibre of this one show will always stand out. One last show which deserves mention is, “We Will Rock You” This is a musical that combines the idea of Orwell’s 1984, Rush’s 2112 and scores it with music by Queen. Having 2nd row centre seats for this didn’t suck.
The favourite show I acted in was My Fair Lady in High School. I played Henry Higgins. I had just transfered to the high school and went from unknown geek to local star in a week. The show was well put together and immensely fun. Some other favourite acting roles have been in Godspell, The Foreigner, and Rimers of Eldrich (the latter is effectively Our Town on shrooms and downers)
One last mention. I have two all time favourite experiences (so far) as a director. The first is my first directing project “The Rise and Rise of Daniel Rocket” which I am surprised that I’ve never posted about. And the first time I directed Midsummer (Well all of them, but especially the first)
Fantastic questions! Thanks!

interview me 🙂
Okay then…
Re: Okay then…
# What drew you to the OTO?
I’ve been a thelemite for 11 years. A few years ago it was pretty much opportunity. It was on my list of things to do but I was too busy over the years and was more engrossed in other work.
# What advice do you have for imminent parents?
Be patient, be loving. Its hard but amazingly rewarding. And you will learn more from your child than you have ever known before.
# What is it about Nick Cave?
I love that man. His music is amazing. If any man ever wrote letters to me that matched Nick’s lyrics, I’d marry them instantly.
# List 5 people on your friends list you haven’t met that you’d like to meet; and why.
Thats a hard one, there is a bunch of people I would like to me.
Ironically, I think most of the people I want to meet live in California lol.
Jetsiva … I’ve been talking to him since he was a cocky young Thelemite 🙂
mendaxveritas … another one of my favs – great person, great intellect
frater_pfdv …. awesome person on all spheres — just brilliant
petervsuijl and marcelle418 … i love these two. peter has always been great at pointing in just the right direction just when i need it.
deanocturne … even though she is only in salem i have yet to make time to go down there. she seems like one hell of a cool chick and im hoping to get my first tattoo from her 🙂
# Describe your perfect weekend
Locked away in a victorian style room, with lots of sex, watching art films, eating good foods, and doing ritual. for 3 whole days mind you.

Ok, I’ll bite.
Re: interview me
1. Standard first question: What attracted you to the OTO
2. If you had to give up one for ever.. which and why: “Alcohol/Tobacco/Drugs”, “Sex”, “OTO” , “Family”
3. What about your family makes you happiest?
4. What would the perfect job/working environment be for you?
5. What personal accomplishment (not family related) are you proudest of.
Re: interview me
It was one of those things that happened rather quickly for me. I’d been studying Ceremonial Magick with lots of Crowley mixed into the Golden Dawn stuff, and then one day we happened to go to The Black Broom and T* heard me mention to that I noticed a Crowley votive. He approached me and asked if I’d ever heard of the OTO. I told him i had but didn’t know anything about it. He gave me an LVX flyer, I went to the following tuesday class and really liked the people I’d met. Then I went to my first mass, the following tuesday I asked for a Minerval ap.
It would have to be “alcohol/drugs/tobbacco” because the others just wouldn’t happen. Besides there are natural highs.
Many times it’s the little things like playing a game of cards, or cooking a meal together.
Ultimate goal: Tenured Proffessor at a major university’s history department. I’d teach, research (much of it abroad), and write. I’m planning on going to CSUN by the Fall of ’07 to start on my MA. After that I’ll go somewhere else to get my Ph D.
That would have to be getting my BA. I wasn’t the first to do this in my family, rather it was expected. However, I did it on my terms. Many people I went to school with were so focussed on graduting and having some cool job that they completely discounted their entire college experience. I majored and minored in subjects that interested me, I took my time, ( 5 years and a summer, not too long for these days but long enough) and I got to wrap up my entire undergraduate experience with a study abroad trip to Normandy. (Now I’ll be paying for all of this for years to come but it was soooo worth it.)
Ha! Now it is my turn for an interview.
Okay then (rolling up sleeves)
1. Standard first question: What attracted you to the OTO in your own words.
2. Give a good description of
3. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In 15?
4. What was the absolute craziest thing you’ve ever done (not including the EC kareoke night)
5. What one thing would you like to change in yourself and why?

Interview me!
well, well, well… what have we?
1. Standard first question: What attracted you to the OTO
2. What would you rather lose, your ability to walk or your ability to express yourself creatively? Why?
3. Describe what music means to you.
4. What material item (apple pie) has the strongest thrall over you? Why do you think that?
5. What places would you like to travel to if money and time weren’t a concern? Why these destinations?
Re: well, well, well… what have we?
1. Standard first question: What attracted you to the OTO
Well…I was already studying/practicing Wicca, and my initiator styled himself a “recovering ceremonialist”. Regardless of the “recovering” quip my education seemed teeming with ceremonial informaton and discussion. I also knew tangentally about the O.T.O. and eventually decided to check it out. I went to Mass a few times, rather sporadically, and found it interesting, but I was very busy with my other esoteric obligations. Scary to admit, but my attendance skyrocketed after I hit it off with this really cute guy….
I’m glad it did.
2. What would you rather lose, your ability to walk or your ability to express yourself creatively? Why?
Neither! Oh, okay, I know how these questions are supposed to work. Fine. I would rather lose my ability to walk. Nearly everything of use to me in this world involves the power of my creativity. Become a slave to malkuth? No thank you.
3. Describe what music means to you.
Music is my preferred and favorite expression of reality and a damn fine magickal tool to manifiest changes in it. I’m fascinated by the phyisics of it, the equations of it, and ultimately the way that it makes me and other people feel. The power music has to influence state of mind, initiate memory, and create sympathetic responses in groups is amazing to me. And that’s just the nuts and bolts! I love to throw ideas together and come out on the other side being able to say “I made this”, or at least contributed to it. That’s the other thing…music is an opportunity to communicate with people, either other musicians or the listeners or both, in a way that non musicians will never undersand.
4. What material item (apple pie) has the strongest thrall over you? Why do you think that?
Not sure I’m getting the question. If you hadn’t suggested apple pie I might not be confused. You see, you mentioned *food* and that got me all distracted. I guess the short answer is “carbohydrates”. Food is my achillies heel, and day to day, it’s not any particular kind. I just want what I want. If I give in to it, I seem for the moment to be happy. If I don’t give in to it, I become unhappy. Then I look at the shape my belly is taking and I’m unhappier still.
I’m also really really emotionally attached to my cat.
5. What places would you like to travel to if money and time weren’t a concern? Why these destinations?
Add to the caveat that personal safety wasn’t an issue and the top of my list would be Iraq. I would love to visit the fertile crescent before all of the Sumerian/Babalonian artifacts are gone.
Other places are: Egypt, for similar reasons to Iraq, although they don’t scare me as much. India, for the food, fabric, and comparative religion. Scotland (again) because the last trip was too short and I’d love to see Kilmarin Glen again. Amsterdam, for all of the reasons people visit Amsterdam. France, Italy, Greece, Kenya, Brazil, Costa Rica…there aren’t many places I wouldn’t go if I had the means.
Interview me please!

I’ll bite…Interview me.
Three of the most talented theater majors I worked with in college ended up in computer-related jobs, two in game programming, and one writing books. Sadly, none of them have done much with their theatrical talents since then.
Do you have any questions for me?
If you find yourself with extra time, I’ll take some questions. =)
Ok…:)
Ok. I’ll bite too. Interview away.
Now I’m just too curious not to (damned Fae curiosity…)
