Heroes conjecture…

Many people have raised an issue with the finale of Heroes…

I will put this under an LJ Cut to spare those who haven’t seen or don’t care:

Yeah, but what about…

Blurb

This program posts news to thousands of machines throughout the entire civilized world. Your message will cost the net hundreds if not thousands of dollars to send everywhere. Please be sure you know what you are doing.

Okay… first off colour my buttons sensitized. I have not watched “Finding Nemo” in (oh… about) 9 months. I can no longer walk thru a public area without turning quickly when I hear a child cry. I am surprised at the number of children I never noticed at the Zoo.

This weekend in Pike Place Market while a grandparent was paying at a cashier, a person in a hooded sweatshirt grabbed and tried to abduct his 7 year old granddaughter.

The grandfather shouted for help and made pursuit, the child yelled, screamed and fought the assailant. The criminal let go and ran.

So why is it a rant? The grandfather later reported in interview that despite screaming for help… no one looked. No one reacted.

Have we become so desensitized to crime that we’re more worried about being “HERO”s by phoning in HOV lane offenses than we are to the plight of a child? Why as a society are we being driven to fear thought-crime and consensual vice, but at the same time ignore the crimes of child abuse, abduction, and property theft.

Bar brawls are now television entertainment rather than physical assault. When I have to turn to the observations of a writer of fiction to see the inhumanity in this world without sensationalism on the news… I wonder where our priorities have really gone.

Personally, I’m getting tired of being told what to think, what I can and can’t do, and what makes me a good citizen. I am tired of this when I discover the people telling me these things not only don’t practice what they demand I do and shouldn’t have told me such in the first place.

You want to show support of our troops? Bring them home to their families and make sure there are jobs waiting for them here that bring in enough money so they can support and raise those families.

Just a little undirected rant. Move about your business.
Go back to Standard Operating Procedure: “Nothing to see, here.

Well, they are out in full force today. The random IM’ers.

I have a new favourite exchange to make me scratch my head:

Me: So, may I ask how you came across my username
Mrn: yeah
five minutes elapsed
Me: Okay.. you got me. Since you said, “Yeah” I’ll ask. How did you come across my username on Yahoo?
Mrn: yes
Me: sigh

They then Buzzed me so I blocked them. This was then followed by multiple requests to add me to their buddy list.

As a result, the page has been extended again. New rules, new comments.

We are preparing to spend a weekend at Faerieworlds.

I’ve gone thru the website looking at several things. The midnight movies at first felt cliché (Labyrinth and Dark Crystal)… but then I noticed the films were going to be introduced by Brian Froud… and it went from cliché to Oh my Gods faster than a sports car goes from 0-60.

So.. I went to the forum to explain that the web store links are broken. And I poked around the site some more and then I saw it.

In very small print at the top of the page:

Faerieworlds LLC Presents

And then the Faerieworlds logo.

Now… let’s take a moment.

Consider the wandering fae (Read the statement preceding with the same dramatic incompetence as an out of work L.A. Bartender saying, ‘consider the lilly’)

But I digress. Consider the wandering fae…

A nature spirit tied to nothing, a trickster, wisdom and innocence melded into one puff of light, wings, and dust. A creature of magick that one can destroy by not applauding for them. They come from the realm of elves, unicorns, and films that never make back their cost or get awards.

Now take a breath…

Let’s talk about LLCs. This stands for Limited Liability Company.

From wikipedia this is: a legal form of business company offering limited liability to its owners. It is similar to a corporation, and is often a more flexible form of ownership, especially suitable for smaller companies with a limited number of owners. Unlike a regular corporation, a limited liability company with one member may be treated as a disregarded entity, so the member is often singled-out as a person performing the actions of the LLC. A limited liability company with multiple members is typically treated as a partnership for tax purposes, thereby avoiding double taxation.

Now I want you to put yourself in the image.

The corporate board room with the obsidian desk and the $40,000 AV equipment. The CEO’s chair spins around and one of Lady Cottington’s pre-pressed victims is sitting there with a Cigar. “The numbers for 2005’s festival were off and 2006’s were flat. What are we going to do about this.”

I’ll let your mind wander.
